Terrible thing about Octopuses – they have so many appendages but no talons attached; although that would be a thing of nightmares…*shudder*
I know super mature with the “what” gag. Yes, the 90’s DID call and they DO want their comedy back. Whatever – it is timeless and there’s nothing better than a nice even burn on ones victims; especially with my speed of speech and accent. I’m a 90’s baby and possess
probably actually possessed a childlike innocence; since forfeiting my soul many years ago… You don’t get naturally fabulous nails without breaking Mother’s Heart a few eggs.
Back to the look at hand… sea what I did there, Land-ho? Many puns – OK, this is nautical with a Kraken twist – or Octopus. Also *fun fact* – thought the plural of Octopus, was in fact Octopi but not true, it’s actually Octopodes or Octopuses.
Start with your base colour on all your talons excluding the feature – I used nude tone. To create the nautical sailor-esque striping, use striping tape or a steady hand to achieve the line work and then layer the contrast hue over the top. Finish with some gold and silver tone studs, I used a selection of round and start studs.
For the best part, the tricky part and trust me its fairly … arduous. Start with a golden base – I mixed in some Golden-holo pigment. Paint a white base over the gold base; as a rough start for your Octopus tentacle outline. Decide what pigmentation pattern you want – depending on what type of Octopus you want – I stuck with colour top, white underside with a shimmer marbled look. Draw the tentacle outline, underside and suction-cup bits – finish with top coat. You’re done!
I am in love with this look – it is fabulous. I was gettin’ legit over nautical manicures with sail boat and anchors. I get it, it’s Nautical – but what’s under the boat… waiting to eat the crew… gigantic sea creatures of legends. Spice it up, add some danger… albeit cute danger in this case, Ha.
So what you think, Darling? Share your experiences with the naughty nautical. Have you ever been swimming and then totally freaked the F@$% out because something touched your leg? It’s OK, no one knows if you peed a little… It’s OK.
