…for the Raptors’ who like to really over-do the finer details!
Fabulous, fierce and very Bohemian- Ikat is a somewhat eclectic look and is one of the oldest fabric production techniques. Super similar to Batik; same-same, but different.
***Be Warned*** there’s a lot of layer of colours, and then refined black design line work.
Start with your selection of colour families; I used a light blue and a darker shimmer teal for the main talons – and then a pastel pink and shimmer berry hue. Paint all you base colours, with your preferred colour (this is where you decide if you want a dark or a light tone base).
Once all your base hues are down, paint 2x layers of the contrast hue – in a diamond and zig-zag pattern (think IKAT).
If need be, clean up your edges of the additional designs – then begin the black patterning. I chose to to the vertical swipes, to exaggerate the outlines of the design – like an IKAT.
The awesome thing about this look, is that you can really make it your own – don’t like the complimentary colours – use contrasting. Swap out the swiping detail, and do crosses… stars! Go Bananas. If your stuck for ideas; look up Ikat – it’s pretty amaze.
So what you think, Darling?
